I’m a big fan of Planet Earth and Mother Nature. Where I can recycle, I do.
Since my return to Prince Edward Island, my mom and I have been discussing the old style of her kitchen. Though she’s kept up with paint and repair, the cupboards were from 1971, as was the counter top (which needed replacing). The kitchen floor had not been replaced in 12 years. It was definitely time for an update.
I decided to start with the cupboards. Replacing a kitchen costs thousands of dollars. Because her cupboards were still in good shape, re-facing and updating made more sense, from a cost and environmental standpoint.
Setting to work in July 18th, I picked away at the kitchen on days off from work (taking a break now and then). Though sanding and filling and painting and measuring and cutting and gluing is allot of work, it was worth the effort. I finished the project on August 29th. It could have been done quicker, but I wanted to enjoy the process and not burn out.
