To Be Human

Time passes and I feel infinite: I am limitless, I am invincible, I am strong.

Contrary days drift over me and I grasp at frayed memories of who I was when I was strong.

This is what it is to be human.

I have slow danced with madness and I have kissed the mouth of death. I have begged for mercy, for salvation, from unrelenting demons. I have traveled hard roads, picked up the broken pieces, and I survived.

I have witnessed miracles and I have ached with the burden of my heart breaking. I have seen new life entering this realm and I have mourned tired souls while watching them slip away.

I have given more than I have taken and I have tried to be kind. I have been lost. I have been reckless. I have been wise.

This is what it is to be human.

To forgive every injury perpetrated against the soul, for the sake of the soul.

To know that fear is an illusion created by self doubt.

To fathom that a life without honour and integrity is of little worth.

To believe that our pasts do not define us and everyday is an opportunity to begin again.

To accept that we can never suffer enough to ease the pain of another.

To lift others up when we’ve been torn down.

To respect that we are entitled to grieve and have a right to our own happiness.

To embrace our flaws, our imperfections, and cultivate magnificence.

To realize the enormity of being responsible for a life that is not your own and bear the weight.

To understand there is no greater high than being in love and unrequited is the loneliest word.

To live with reverence, not arrogance, and know that every living thing deserves a chance.

This is what it is to be human

So go on now: Be human.
Embrace every messy, glorious, joyful moment and be grateful for the opportunity to be alive.

You have written a series of profound infinitives… As our mentor, Dr. Dyer, taught us It is how we complete the statement : I am…,that defies our humaness… Thanks for sharing part of your soul…💕
