I’ve Taken Back My Heart

I’m over capturing moments,
of who we used to be.
When I could recognize you,
and you allowed bravery.

From a single burning flame,
to an old familiar game:
I want you — go away.
I’ve taken back my heart.

You can keep my gems.
You can keep your lies.
I’m erasing the memory,
of when we were entwined.

I’m through with crossing oceans,
to see who you might be:
A beautiful shining light,
or a cage without a key.

You run from ghosts and secrets.
While love drowns in waves of fear.
I watch them pull you under.
You’ll find no mercy here.

You can keep my gems.
You can keep your lies.
I’m erasing the memory,
of when we were entwined

I’ve taken back my heart.
I’m shielding it from pain.
I’m stitching up the pieces,
I’m releasing you from me.

I’ve taken back my heart.
